Style Inspiration

I thought it would be a good idea to share my main style icons or inspirations. I do take inspiration from pretty much anywhere, whether that's just randomly something on tumblr or Instagram, it does help me put outfits or potential ideas together. I also obviously create polyvore sets, whether these are inspired by celebrities or just are made out of sheer boredom.

 I'll try not to bore you too much with the stereotypical icons, as yes the wonderful wardrobe sported on Alexa Chung is fabulous, and yes she does inspire me with her laid back yet somehow put together look, I am not going to include her. (Although I will include the Olsen Twins...oops)

My first style icon I have chosen to reveal as Lana Del Rey aka Lizzy Grant, the American Singer. Not only am I inlove with her voice but, I'm also inlove with her style. She can be so classic and glamorous sometimes, in a very Jessica Rabbit kind of way. Also, she shows her playful side with cropped polo tops and pleated skirts, which are to die for casual look. These looks are very similar to American Apparels attire on most of the models or workers in stores.

I love this second photograph as it makes Lana look like a glamorous lady with her cat eye sunglasses and red splashes of colour on her lips/nails.

The second on my list of inspirations is Kylie Jenner, not only is she obviously in the media all the time, thanks to the Kardashians clan but, I can't help but stalk her style on Instagram. I'm not going to lie she's a big influence on me, she got a blue oversized coat, so I got a blue oversized coat. Obviously hers was considerably much more money than mine. I really love the way Kylie makes everything look so cool, which sounds so lame but, her ability to do casual grunge amazes me.

I am very tempted to recreate this gorgeous style and maybe feature it in a blogpost my interpretation. She just looks so effortless and cool, it gives me strong outfit envy.

Again Kylie looks effortless but, very luxe. She's wearing the roll sleeve crop from topshop, which I obviously already own in grey. But, she's paired it up with this taupe leather skirt to make the outfit look ridiculously good, not to mention the sunglasses and casual bag.

And lastly we have the Olsen Twins, I know a lot of people use then for inspiration but, I think this is because their looks are easy to create. It's so strange to think of them as being the child stars dressed up the same to now being style icons.

The Olsen twins look so goth glam in all black attire with their very grungy hair and smoky eyeliner, again these make it look effortless, however I can guarantee this shoot probably did take a long time. I also love the ridiculous amount of rings, this is a note to myself to start collecting again.

This is a rather recent photo of them both, they're contrasting on their hair front and clothes. Whether opting for power dressing shoulders or a snake skin print, they still look fabulous. How these two are flawless and on point, I don't know.

I hope you've enjoyed looking at my style inspirations, I will probably do more posts on inspirational icons in the future!

H&M addiction!

Recently I have found myself more in H&M then any other store, (maybe that's because, it is right next to my work and that is temptation at it's finest) but, H&M have some fabulous and affordable basics. I just can't help myself and apparently saying no, is not an option for me when it comes to their crop tops. I am, there is no other word for it, addicted to crop tops. And thanks to H&M's very American Apparel like crop tops, I'm very ready for summer.

These are the tops I bought from H&M;

The most expensive top was the cute lucky cat crop at £6.99 (not expensive at all) which I bought myself as a birthday present! It's a printed dupe of the American Apparel spandex crop tee (http://store.americanapparel.co.uk/cotton-spandex-jersey-crop-tee_rsa8380) but for obviously much less.

The black and white cami top is a sort of oversized crop that has a v-back, this was only £3.99. My only problem with this top is that it's tempting me to break the rules to wear then v-back at the front.

Off the shoulders are great for me as I always get horrible strappy marks in summer on my shoulders when I forget to put my sun cream on! This is my favourite of what I bought as this too was only £3.99 and I have already made a black of the shoulder top about a month ago, and may steal the pattern from this to make a velvet one! (Similar American Apparel http://store.americanapparel.co.uk/cotton-spandex-off-shoulder-top_rsa8389)

The last black crop too I have already worn with my black tennis skirt from American Apparel, I must admit before I saw this I nearly purchased this one from American Apparel (http://store.americanapparel.co.uk/cotton-spandex-sleeveless-crop-top_8369) but, when I saw this was only £3.99 I couldn't resist as it is identical with the sleeveless shape and very high neckline!

Below there is an ootd of me wearing it from Instagram;
